Sunday Stamps II 110

Hello from the American Midwest!
Today for Sunday Stamps I have a book and author with one of the most important contributions from the 1800's:

Charles Darwin's "The Origin of Species", on a stamp from Italy.

Please check out SeeitonaPostcard and see who else is contributing!

Great author - Darwin would never have crossed my mind, yet he has been on many stamps.

This would be another one of those books you (I) know so much about, that you forget you've (I've) never actually read it!

important contribution indeed!
Nevertheless this is very the first time that I see a stamp in honour of Charles Darwin and his book!

Me too, I usually think of Darwin more as a scientist than as an author. I had never seen this stamp, I love the design and the fact that the book appears on it.

I'm proud to have a copy of The Origin of the Species on my book shelf - it takes some reading though.
